John Edwards in 2008(?)

Let me first state that I fully believe that even my dog, if she were president, would be unable to fuck up this country as much as Bush has (and may even make things better). Unfortunately, she's not yet 35 (even in dog years) so I have to look elsewhere.

Today John Edwards is a candidate for President and, given that I like what I learned of him in 2004, he starts off being my leading candidate in 2008. He's canvassing the nation appearing everywhere that'l have him to tell his story (again). Here's one of the videos:

Of course, I'm not entirely sure that this is the video he should have been asking people to send around. While he still seems smart and earnest enough, he could use a little editing and perhaps it wasn't the smartest idea to have the rich white man talking to the camera about politics while the poor black kids who were so tragically affected by Katrina do the sweaty work in the background.

I'm okay with him putting out "rough" videos. It's got a certain reality to it that is almost always lacking in these things. When Dean got his crazy lead, he got away from what put him in that position. Lets hope that Edwards learned a lot from his last run with Kerry. If not, you can always vote for me in 2012.

I liked Edwards in '04. I just don't know if he has what it takes to win on his own in '08. He needs a really good running mate.

I think an Edwards/Clark ticket would be pretty cool. Good domestic and foreign policy coverage. Plus, it's not like the elder statesman as VP (Cheney) is anything new at this point.
